MFA Communications Design - 2014

I'm a graphic designer with a background in print as well as interactive, editorial as well as promotion design. I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2006 with a double-major in Journalism & Mass Communication (visual communication) and French.

Here at Pratt I'm hoping to refine my design voice to become a storyteller, educator and entrepreneur. Innovation is my calling, after all: my name रचना (Rachna) means “creation” in Hindi.

While the accessibility of media tools easily allow us to share stories with others, storytelling in contemporary culture is largely fragmented and self-indulgent. By examining how design can be used to repurpose stories, I seek to invite reinterpretation of both personal and community identity and to foster connections among people.
