MS Communications Design

Received a BA from Drew University in 2007 with a focus in studio art and creative writing. Began working towards an MS in Communications Design at Pratt Institute during the 2009 fall semester as a part-time student. I anticipate degree completion by May 2013.

Throughout my time at Pratt, I have worked full-time at an academic advising office at Barnard College of Columbia University. It has been a struggle balancing my very different roles. Facilitating and anticipating needs by day, I transform into a designer who envisions and thinks critically by night. I value my experience in both roles. Not only have I learned valuable skills communicating with a wide range of people, it has become clear that my two sides are not so disimilar and that I tote my design tool bag to each job I tackle, large and small.

Drawn to physical forms and tactile experiences, I have a passion for print. The endless possibilities opened through interactive design and digital media also invigorates me. As I prepare to begin directed research and work towards my thesis, I keep these dual interests in mind. Much like the benefits I have found through my differing and similar roles as employee and student, there is an inspiring space to explore between the handcrafted and digitally generated.
