Hi there,
I was born in Norman, Oklahoma on September 1st, 1978 to Alan Colby Acock, and Delores Antonia Acock. (People call her Antonia, and I am named after her). My Dad is a sociologist, and my Mom is an artist; becoming a graphic designer is sort of square in the middle of both of those two professions, so I'm not quite sure who to blame. Either way, I'm pretty happy with how I ended up.
I turned 33 this year,(OMG IM OLD)and realize I haven't changed much in the last 17 years. I still skateboard, bmx, and sloppily play drums for punk bands. I am also way too comfortable with a can of spray paint. I just don't seem to grow out of things, but I manage to get in trouble less as I get older.
I went to Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon and studied under some amazing professors. They helped curb my love of letterforms in graffiti to a love of letterforms in typography. They taught process, theory, and concept above all else. I left college with a BFA in Graphic Design, and have been working professionally for about 6 years.
I've been Vegan Straight Edge for most my life, and dedicate as much of my free time as possible to animal rights issues. I have son named Gabriel Louis, and he is my everything. Todo para la familia.
I think that's about it. Thanks for reading.

I am exploring how design can be used as a tool for advocacy for children with disabilities, and their families. I am particularly interested in early childhood advocacy, and how design can best be utilized to help families navigate the current infrastructure of services and barriers that exist for their children.
I plan to use design to educate families, provide instruction, reassurance, resources, and navigation.
I feel that this can be accomplished through design by focusing on key campaigns, (People First Language, Self Advocacy) as well as Contextual Repurposing, and general social advocacy.
Critically looking at my own environment (Connecticut and New York City) in conjunction with my own experiences as a father of a child with a disability I will form research that leads to designed solutions.
I will conduct; individual interviews with experts, field studies, and visual explorations. I will consider antecedents and evaluate their successes and failures. I will address unmet challenges, as well as opportunities for repurposing, to generate solutions that offer fully
inclusive systems.
