The Kerning Point

Design Intern at Print Magazine

By Josh Eriksen on April 25, 2012

Print is seeking highly organized intern to work in its art department to help in further developing this site and other online platforms. These internships offer an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand the day-to-day operations of an international magazine. Candidates for these positions should have a passion for design and journalism.

Print's interns make major contributions to the magazine and website, assisting with the design of layouts, and perfecting the way the website looks and functions. Our interns also have a proven track record of success in their careers after Print—many have gone on to work at leading publications, design firms, and agencies.

Art interns function as an integral part of the design team, working on most visual aspects of the magazine and website. Responsibilities include assisting with production, which entails color correction, file conversion, and ensuring layouts are fit to print (CMYK images, correct bleeds, updated links). Art interns will also be expected to reach out to get art submitted for the magazine and web, to archive Print for the web, and to organize the physical archive. Art interns will also be involved in maintaining and creating content for the website.
